Today I’m saying goodbye to this show that has been my best friend for 9 years now. The end of an era. As much as I am going to miss my favorite show of all time I’m grateful for all the others shows that came into my life during OTH’s run. I somewhat hope that all those shows will fill the void but OTH has given me so much more in life than just one hour every week that I think I’ll manage. I’ll have to. 

Just to sum up some of the things that Mark (and the entire cast) have given me: 

- Music. Next to all the bands I just like to listen to it gave me a couple of bands that are now part of my life every day. I’m not just talking about the songs, but about songs that changed my life, song that were there when nobody else was, songs that got me through so many moments in life. Cary Brothers, Wakey!Wakey!, Gavin DeGraw, Kate Voegele… A lot of artists have a lot to thank for for being on this show. 

- An idea about my career. First I wanted to become a writer, a script writer to become someone like Mark and to give people a view of life due to a show that I would write. I’ve followed some classes and did pretty good, but I realized it is not something I can do all day. And as a writer you should. When Mark added Grubbs to the show I was amazed about how wonderful his music sounded and now I am promoting and helping Mike Grubbs with his music in the Netherlands. They have played 3 amazing shows over here and I’m still stunned by how this all happened. But if I look back it is all because of this wonderful show. And now I started my own company and it is starting off pretty well! 

- A different way to look at people. OTH taught me that you can forgive someone after something really bad has happened or you can at least give some redemption. 

- Literature. Don’t have to say more, if you don’t know what I’m talking about just start by season 1. 

- My love for sports. 

- My love for this wonderful ‘little town’ Wilmington, NC.

I realize that I can keep writing and writing… This show has just simply changed everything and at the same time nothing.

‘Because sometimes you have to step outside of the person you’ve been and remember the person you were meant to be. The person you wanted to be. The person you are.’ 

I can still remember when we were rooting for season 4 and I saw this wonderful reason not to cancel the show by someone online: ‘You can’t leave Haley standing on that bridge forever’. And they didn’t.

Thank you One Tree Hill, thank you to this wonderful cast, thank you Lindsay for the wonderful music, thank you for the WB and the CW for giving this show a chance every year. 

Thank you Mark Schawhn, you are a wonderful human being and I will keep track of you for your next projects. Just know that I will be forever thankful.

Every single time I hear Wakey!Wakey!’s Light Outside I just get this image in my head. Amazingly done mister Lafferty!

I’ve got to point out that there is no possible way in the world that we could go to all of these places without the love, support, and encouragement that we receive from our fans all over the globe. One year ago, Wakey! had never played beyond the borders of the US. Since their first beautiful reception in the UK last December, you all have helped bring them back time after time and have brought them further into the mainland than we could have dreamed of a year ago.

To all the amazing members of Team Wakey!Wakey! and to every last dedicated fan, to anyone who has played the record loud with the windows down, to anyone who has been inspired or encouraged by the music, we thank you from the bottom to the top of our hearts.
